A lot of bad things can happen in life because the world is not yet the way it is supposed to be. And these bad things that happen to us can cause us fears, anxieties and they can disrupt our Shalom in Elohim. Those things can also stop us from hearing Elohim’s voice if we’re too afraid of things that have happened to us in the past.
That is a problem. Because we are commanded to hear and to obey Elohim’s voice. And if we cannot hear His voice because of our anxieties or fears, then we certainly cannot obey it. And it is hard to dwell with Him when we are not aware of Him, because we are more aware of our fears and anxieties instead.
Has perhaps something bad happened to you that steals your Shalom away from you on a regular basis? Maybe you have been robbed, perhaps you have been raped. Maybe you have been physically or psychologically abused, either as an adult or as a child. Maybe by direct treatment, maybe by indirect treatment by being raised to believe in a Babylonian system that is false in every way.
Sometimes other people suffer post-traumatic stress. Post-traumatic stress can happen when we are exposed to a stressor that we are not able to do anything about at the time. So, we have to suppress our emotions and feelings. And if we never learn how to let them out later, and we never learn how to deal with these feelings, they can cause trouble. Because instead of letting them out in an adaptive way, they come out in strange, non-adaptive ways.
Sometimes people are orphaned, or they are abandoned as children. And therefore they really do not know how to trust Elohim. Perhaps their parents abused them, or did not love them, so maybe they feel like Elohim will also abuse them or not love them. Maybe they feel that they are not worthy. Maybe they feel there is a basic insecurity or vulnerability that pervades their lives.
Well, if you follow Nazarene Israel’s studies, you know that the world will not be made right until after Armageddon. In fact the world is supposed to get progressively worse until Armageddon. But sometimes it helps people to know that the world will be eventually made right.
As we explain in Revelation and the End Times, after trumpet seven Yeshua will ask His Father Yahweh to give to Him the nations for His inheritance and the outermost ends of the earth for His possession. Yeshua will then break the nations apart with a rod of iron and dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel, with this rod of iron that He receives from His Father. We see Yahweh saying this to His Son Yeshua in Psalms chapter 2.
Tehillim (Psalms) 2:8-9
8 “Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
But we know that it is going to be us that does the dashing in pieces because Yeshua tells us this in Revelation chapter 2.
Hitgalut (Revelation) 2:26-27
26 And he who overcomes [Israel, the overcomers of Elohim], and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations-
27 ‘HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON; THEY SHALL BE DASHED TO PIECES LIKE THE POTTER’S VESSLES’
–as I also have received from My Father.
And this makes absolute sense and accords with what we read in Daniel chapter 7, in reference to what happens after trumpet 7.
Daniel 7:27
27 Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.
Now notice in this verse; the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of kingdoms, under the whole heaven, is given to the people, the saints of the most high. And yet when this kingdom and dominion is given to the saints, this qualifies that all dominions will serve and obey Him. Because they are serving and obeying His body which rules over the nations with His rod of iron in His stead.
But before we get to the ruling and reigning part, first we have to become at peace with ourselves. We have to let our old selves go. When we die to our selves in immersion and we are raised new creations in Him, we have to not let these old things affect us. So that we can hear His voice and therefore we can obey His voice. And that is why in this video presentation we want to talk about how we can feel Safe With Him. So that these things of our pasts no longer affect us.
One of the most important things to know about coming to faith in Yeshua is that, when we are immersed (or Baptized), we are not just taking a bath. Rather we are symbolically dying to our old selves. We go underneath the surface of the water, symbolic of being buried underground. And then we when we are raised, we are raised up new creatures with a newness of life in Him. It is symbolic of rebirth.
But what goes wrong sometimes is that, when people are immersed they do not always let go of their old experiences and their old traumas and their old lives. So, they do not really let themselves die to their old lives and their old problems. This makes it impossible for them to become new creations in Him, so they keep reliving the same past problems over and over again. And this is not His will for us. Because if we can not die to our old selves then we cannot walk in the newness of life that Yeshua wants to give us.
What we want to do in this study is to help those of us who have difficulty letting go of our pasts and difficulty dying to our old selves. To realize that not only is this what is commanded of us, but it is safe to do so. Let us take a look at some very important passages. First let us look at what Apostle Shaul asks and tells us in Romans chapter 6.
Romim (Romans) 6:3-4
3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were immersed into Messiah Yeshua were immersed into His death [meaning we die to our old selves]?
4 Therefore we were buried with Him through immersion into death, that just as Messiah was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
That means we should have a new life. The old things are washed away.
Qolossim (Colossians) 3:3
3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Messiah in Elohim.
We have a new life and a new opportunity in Elohim. But what does it mean to have a new life in Elohim? Yeshua talks about this in John chapter 15
Yochanan (John) 15:4-5
4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
If we can imagine us actually physically dwelling in Yeshua, or if Yeshua is physically dwelling in us. Us in Him and Him in us, Him in the Father and the Father in Him. And that apart from Yeshua we can do nothing. This is an important relationship to understand. Because what we are really trying to do here is to reestablish the connection that was lost in the garden of Eden.
B’reisheet (Genesis) 3:24
4 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
In the garden of Eden, mankind’s attention strayed off of Elohim, and the connection between man and Elohim was broken. And this is the whole point, to restore the connection that was broken between man and the Divine, which was broken and lost at the time of the original sin.
But when we are dwelling in Yeshua, when we are abiding in Him and Him in us, and Him in the Father and the Father in Him, then we can be anxious for nothing. Because we have a new life, it is a clean slate, we are new creatures. And then in everything, in prayer and supplication and thanksgiving, we can make our requests be known unto Elohim. And we know that Elohim is going to answer our requests when we do not ask amiss. But we ask in Him, and we know that we have our prayers answered. And we receive the peace of Elohim that surpasses all understanding. .
Philipim (Philippians) 4:6-7
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to Elohim;
7 and the peace of Elohim, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Messiah Yeshua.
And the key to the whole thing is for us to be in Him and to know that it is safe to do that. Because when we are in Him and He is in us, we are supernaturally protected. It is as if the old things no longer matter.
King David also understood this basic relationship. In Psalms chapter 18, David speaks about dwelling in Elohim as if he is literally dwelling in a fortress, stronghold, strong tower.
Tehillim (Psalms) 18:2
2 Yahweh is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My Elohim, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
King David speaks about this relationship a lot. He is mentally, psychologically, and spiritually dwelling in Elohim. And Elohim then gives him protection and safety, and deliverance in times of trouble. King David went out a lot into battle. We read of David’s relationship with Elohim again in Psalms chapter 31
Tehillim (Psalms) 31:2
2 Bow down Your ear to me, Deliver me speedily; Be my rock of refuge, A fortress of defense to save me.
3 For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me.
King David literally understood this relationship that he would dwell in Yahweh as if he were dwelling in a fortress. From within the fortress other things could happen, and they did not affect him. He was not bothered by it.
This is how we should be when we are dwelling in Yeshua. We should not allow the things that are external affect us, why should we let them affect us? Because now we have newness of life and safety, because we are dwelling with Messiah Yeshua. Nothing can disrupt that. Nothing can take that away from us ever.
Yochanan (John) 10:28
28 “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.”
When we are dwelling in Yeshua and we maintain that relationship with Him, it does not matter what happens to the body. It does not matter what happens to our flesh. Because we now have an eternal relationship with Messiah Yeshua.
But we do not really need a physical fortress to be protected this way. That is one of one main teaching points of the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). A sukkah is a very flimsy structure, you can literally kick it over. It does not offer protection from wartime, or from enemies or invaders, nothing like that. But always in Scripture, after a time of danger, Israel would dwell in sukkot (tabernacles). Because Yahweh is our protection. When we are in Yahweh, He provides for us, and He protects us. That is one of the basic lessons of the Feast of Tabernacles. We see this concept described also in Isaiah chapter 4.
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 4:6
6 And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain.
We also see the Apostle Shaul speak about this relationship in Ephesians chapter 6. We may not have a castle or a fortress or a literal suit of armor. But when we are dwelling in Yeshua, we are protected from the darts, and slings, and arrows from the outside world, as if we were wearing a suit of armor.
Ephesim (Ephesians) 6:10-11; 16
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in Yahweh and in the power of His might. [Abide in Him and we are protected].
11 Put on the whole armor of Elohim, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
When we have faith and we are abiding in Him, these things that are external to us do not matter to us. We can be inside the fortress, the strong tower with Him. And we are protected.
So, these old things that have happened to us in the past, whether we were raped, or robbed, or perhaps we were assaulted, who knows what happened to us. We do not need to let these things affect us. Because we are focused on the good, we are focused on our spiritual relationship with Elohim. Us in Yeshua and Yeshua in us. Him in the Father and the Father in Him. And then we let all of the old things, the old fears, and the old anxieties pass away. And it is both safe to do so, and commanded to do so.
Yochanan (John) 10:9
9 “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”
And a very important passage in Matthew chapter 14, when Yeshua was coming to the disciples, walking on the water on the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret).
Mattityahu (Matthew) 14:28-30
28 And Kepha answered Him and said,
“Adon, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29 So He said, “Come.”
And when Kepha had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Yeshua. [But look what happens next. Kepha takes his eyes off of Yeshua and everything went wrong.]
30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Adon, save me!”
So, once again, when we keep our eyes on Yeshua and our focus on Yeshua, when we are in Him and Him in us, Him in the Father and the Father in us, we are literally protected. We can literally do things we could not do otherwise. Because He gives us supernatural protection and supernatural provision.
So, before we learn to rule and reign over the nations with Yeshua’s rod of iron, first we have to learn to become healed. And this is why we have to learn how to feel Safe With Him. I hope this study helps someone.
